Overview
Son of Nathaniel West, grandson of Edward West. Wanted to be trusted, not powerful. Sent by his father to travel and learn people before following his own path; met Bran first, who defended him early on.
Kept a journal of the group's real moments. Came to Dunwick seeking understanding of people and the world. Survives Ashfall — one of only two survivors, with Alden. Stays Carter: no name change, no "Father Nathaniel Ward" identity.
Builds a stone church in Raven's Rest as a private memorial and inside joke for Bran ("his Stone Church"). Helps Alden recover after Alden's later defeat by Malachar.
