Overview
Came to Dunwick seeking power. Intelligent, gifted, resourced, but "felt ordinary" — rejected his own name as "not enough" and created Malachar. Tragedy: believed being remembered was the same as mattering.
Studied at Stonehaven alongside Elora — same knowledge, opposite uses. Does not consider Alden his nemesis and barely remembers him; when finally confronted at Hawthorne, his reaction is genuine indifference ("Who are you?"), not mockery. Garrick later tortures him for information about Ashfall and the Horror ritual; Malachar ends up dead, and Northwind is stolen.
